At Ransom Ridge Winery & Cidery, we're blessed to share our vineyard with eight magnificent deer who have become part of our family. Each morning, they graze peacefully among our vines, adding a touch of natural magic to our wine making process.
Meet Rebel
Rebel is, as his name suggests, a deer with a rebellious streak. Unlike the rest of his herd, who are content to follow the well-worn paths and graze in familiar meadows, Rebel is driven by a thirst for the unknown. He's curious, independent, and possesses a healthy dose of skepticism. While not overtly aggressive, he's not afraid to stand up for himself or challenge the status quo. He has a dry wit and a somewhat sarcastic sense of humor, which he often uses to mask his deeper feelings. Underneath his tough exterior, Rebel is fiercely loyal to those he cares about, even if he has a hard time showing it.
Meet Red
Red is a young buck, easily identifiable by his distinctive auburn coat - a trait that earned him his name. Unlike many deer his age, Red possesses a curious and almost playful demeanor, often observed investigating novel objects or engaging in seemingly frivolous activities. He is not the largest or strongest deer in his herd, but his intelligence and adaptability more than compensate.
Meet Ridge
Ridge is no ordinary deer. While he possesses the physical characteristics common to his species – a slender build, graceful gait, and impressive antlers (which he sheds and regrows annually) – it is his personality that truly sets him apart. He is a complex individual with a unique blend of traits that make him a memorable and engaging character.
Meet River
River is a young buck with a distinctive, almost melancholy personality. Unlike many of his peers who are boisterous and playful, River possesses a quiet dignity and a thoughtful nature. He observes more than he participates, and seems to carry a weight of understanding beyond his years. While not overtly unfriendly, he prefers solitude and often seeks refuge in the quietest corners of the forest.
Meet Rascal
Rascal is the respected and charismatic leader of his deer herd. Much like Rudolph, he possesses a unique, distinguishing trait that sets him apart and ultimately proves to be his greatest strength. Rascal’s journey is one of overcoming adversity and embracing his individuality to guide and protect his community. His courage, wisdom, and empathy, combined with his unique traits, make him an invaluable asset to the herd.

Rosie is a kind, gentle deer who lives in the heart of the Whispering Woods. Known for her empathetic nature and unwavering optimism, she's a friend to all creatures, big and small. Though she may seem shy at first, Rosie possesses a quiet strength and a determination to protect those she cares about. Her story revolves around a journey of self-discovery and the importance of community.
